3 The measurements

3.4 How to prepare and run the Script list

The Script file is a standard configuration file where all information concerning the system parameters are stored. One can prepare such a file by setting all the system parameters to desired values and saving it by using either the Save for Script <name> or Save for Script As... commands in the Configuration menu (here the <name> is the name given to the data series). These commands, unlikely the Save As… command, do not update the current user configuration list. When the set of the Script files is prepared one can execute them one by one using the Script manager accessed from the Measurement menu. The left-hand side file list shows the Script (configuration) files in the current directory. Their names comply with the search pattern and the configuration file names are ordered alphabetically. The selected files in the Scripts available list can be added to the Scripts to run list by pressing the Add button. The files added to the Scripts to run list show up in this list in the order how they were added. This order can be changed by using the Promote and Demote buttons below the list.

When the Start button is pressed the scripts marked on the Scripts to run list are executed one by one starting from the top one. The file name of the script, which execution has been completed, is on the list unmarked. The execution of the script list can be stopped at any moment with the same consequences as for the stopping of normal measuring process. e.g., partial data are lost. The execution of the list can be resumed by pressing the Start button and then the first script executed is the most top one marked script file on the Scripts to run list. The current list of Scripts to run can be saved to and read from a temporary file.
