2 General Description > 2.2 Hardware

2.2.3 Pulse generator

List of the hardware supported

          - internal

Transient Processing Board (currently developed in M&N group of the University of Manchester)

National Instruments PCI/PCIe 6251 (not USB) with suitable terminal board (e.g. SCB-68) and matching cable (e.g. SHC68-68-EPM). Input voltages: ± 10.0V, resolution: 16-bit, maximum sampling frequency: 200kHz, pulses from 500ns (in 500ns steps)

Keithley KPCI 3116 (implementation in progress)

IOTech DAQBoard1000 (implementation in progress)

- external

An external pulse generator is required for the MCTS measurements (it drives LED synchronously with the acquisition process) or when larger voltages or shorter pulses than the ones provided by the AD/DA card are needed. The data acquisition is still performed by the AD/DA card. The external pulse generator requires the GPIB interface

Agilent (HP) 8116A (production discontinued), output voltages: ± 16.0V, pulses from 20ns

Agilent (HP) 8110A (production discontinued), output voltages: ± 20.0V, pulses from 20ns

Agilent 33220A  output voltages: ± 10.0V, pulses from 20ns

The GPIB addresses are configured on the Hardware form, other parameters by editing the Lap_sys.ini file. All other necessary parameters for the pulse generators are already specified in this file during the installation process.
