2.2.2 Signal source or Capacitance meter

If a general signal source, i.e. signal to voltage transformer, is used there are no specific demands concerning the configuration procedure. One has to specify only the name of a measured physical parameter unit, and how many units correspond to 1V of the output signal.

In a case of the DLTS measurements the following capacitance meters are supported

UMIST meter (testing phase)

Boonton 72B preferably with -03 and -05A options

Boonton 72BD

Boonton 7200 (can be used in an analog mode, for a digital operation requires GPIB interface)

Configured by editing the Lap_sys.ini file. All necessary parameters for the capacitance meters are already specified in this file during the installation process. In this version of the program the Boonton 7200 meter can be used in a hybrid mode, i.e. the capacitance is read from the analog signal output, and the bias voltage is applied through the bias input connectors from the pulse generator. The meter internal bias is not used. However, if the meter is connected to the computer via the GPIB interface then the meter range and the 1MHz signal amplitude can be changed from the program.
