The
graph in the Noise panel on the Analysis folder shows the noise Histogram of the
currently displayed transient. For the calculation a parabolic fit of the last
part of the transient is compared point by point with the actual transient and
the deviation histogram displayed. It is possible to set how much of the patter
part of the transient is sampled in this way by using the scroll bar above the
histogram. Two spin buttons above the histogram allow its span (in standard
deviation units) to be modified, and the number of histogram increments in which
this span has to be displayed. General settings for this graph can be modified
by clicking the right mouse button when the mouse pointer is on the graph as
described in the Graphic
Server section. The histogram redraws automatically when the Main graph is
redrawn. Alternatively, one can force the histogram to redraw by pressing the
corresponding button on the main toolbar. The histogram can be overlaid with the
fitted Gaussian distribution of the amplitudes in order to allow a user to judge
whether the noise in the given transient has the amplitude distribution close to
the Gaussian one. The Gaussian distribution is fitted and shown provided this
action is enabled on the Customise form.
