4.6.4 Some minor but also important functions

The File and system folder

- File not saved warning can be enabled/disabled.

- The transient data file and the spectrum file in the Data base exists warning can be enabled/disabled. This is independent of the standard Windows file (on the disk) exists warning when the file is saved.

- If one need to measure very slow transients then the sampling rate can be additionally multiplied by 0.01. This function does not work for the UMIST card.

The Calculations folder

- In most of applications the transient represents values of the physical parameter measured. However, in some cases one measures a derivative of this parameter, e.g. instead of charge kinetics one measures a current kinetics. In these cases in order to obtain the proper spectra referring to the physical parameter one has to use a different kernel of the Laplace transformation. In the current case one has to check a corresponding checkbox on this folder. Then the spectra files have the “i” character in the file extension instead of “s”.

- For the synchronous calculations one can display the average value of the emission rate for the whole spectrum and the total signal amplitude for all peaks observed besides the parameters for individual peaks. The last settings of these parameters are remembered.

- One can enable saving of residuals calculated from the transient fitting procedure (this makes the spectra files rather large).

- For the asynchronous calculation process one can allow an automatic retrieval of the result file and saving it in the data base.

- For the synchronous calculations one can overlay numerical parameters of the peaks with the spectra drawn on the main graph.

The Other folder

- Voltage used for the sample polarity checking can be set.

- Mains frequency (50/60Hz) for a graphical bar display can be chosen which will appear in the residuals display

- One can define an initial span of the temperature monitor on the Temperature folder

- The noise histogram can be automatically compared to the best fit of the Gaussian distribution.

- a 5s dead time between subsequent scripts can be disabled

- Correlation between the pulse’ voltages and the sample bias can disabled
