3.3.5 Diode polarity checking and the C-V measurement (DLTS)

Before the reverse diode bias is applied it is advisable to check whether the diode is properly polarised. When the Check Polarity button on the Main toolbar is pressed or equivalently the item Check Polarity in the Measurement menu is selected two biases (positive and negative with the same amplitudes) are applied to the diode and the corresponding capacitances are measured and displayed. The value of this bias is defined on the Customise form (accessed from the Configuration menu) in the Other folder.

IMPORTANT. If the Boonton meter is used, then it is assumed that the diode polarity will be checked before connecting any compensating capacitor and that the Boonton is set to an appropriate scale which corresponds to that set in the software in the Capacitance folder.
