3.2.2 An introduction to the Database program

After a user and their current initialisation file are chosen, it is possible to choose/change the Data base where all measurement and result (spectra) files will be gathered. The Material>>Sample combo box contains the list of the materials and samples already defined in the chosen Data base. It is possible to add to or edit this list by pressing the Add/Edit button. This combo box displays the list of the samples from the main root of the base and the first branch of the hierarchically organised structure. The roots are the materials used for the studies. The first branches are the samples produced from these materials. The combo box displays these two items as a “material >> sample” structure. The currently used “material>>structure” pair is saved in the configuration file and this pair is chosen when this file is loaded.
