2.1.4 Experiment Database

All experimental results of the Laplace spectroscopic measurements, spectra files, and other accompanying results obtained in the same material section and/or sample are stored in a database designed using Microsoft Access. The Experiment Data base program is a separate application, which can be run in parallel or separately to the main software application. When the data or spectrum file is stored on disk information about the file location is put into the base together with all the parameters specified in the header of this particular file. The transient and the spectrum themselves are not kept in the base. The Database application is loaded in the background by the main program and its window can always be brought to the foreground by pressing the corresponding button on the Main toolbar. Changing the Database also sends a command to the Experiment Data base program to load the same base. Each data or spectrum file saved to the data automatically updates the result Treeview in the Experiment Data base program. The details of this base are in the following chapters.
